I’ve just returned from a week in Maine, and was lucky enough to have some fantastic weather that produced some great autumnal colours. The temperatures had been too warm towards the beginning of the week, but as the colder weather came in the reds and oranges in the trees came out in full.
Apart from a day whale watching I spent the entire time using my Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 lens, which I’m discovering is a great general-purpose lens. I’ve also been using a circular polariser more frequently, and am finding that it pays off well with water shots. It’s a shame I can’t attach a lens hood with the Cokin filter system, as this would’ve helped protect from water splashes during the rainier days.
I also experimented with panorama shots, and am pleased with how they came out. One of them, not shown here, showed some strange fading sky artefacts that I haven’t managed to fix yet. I think the root cause is vignetting from the lens, but am surprised that Photoshop can’t seem to gracefully handle that.
